Do Ring Doorbells Work With Google Home Hub or Only Nest?

I had bought a ring video doorbell, and I wanted to have it show up on my chromecasts. This was after I had already had some nest devices already connected, and they were working great. Well, some of my friends I asked said that the Ring is owned by Alexa while Nest Hello is owned by Google, and there could not be a possibility of compatibility. Guess what, they were wrong.

Ring video doorbells now work with Google Home and Google home hub. Now you can connect your ring video doorbells to the Google home and get access to your device using your voice using the ring assistant app. All you have to do to get started is to link your ring devices to your google account and start managing them with the google assistant.

Definitely check out these Ring video doorbells listing here on their site and their reviews, you will like them.Currently, ring video doorbell will only send you notifications and instant mobile alerts as soon as they detect motion.

The moment you answer to that alert on your smartphone using the free ring app, you get to see, hear, and also speak to the people in your property from any place.

The ring assistant app also enables you to ask google to start another new recording, to turn on or off your motion alerts and also to get health updates on your devices and to review the last ring notification.

To get started with the process above, all you need to do is to link your ring devices to your google home account and start to manage your devices with your google assistant.

I have written an article on the best video doorbells that work with Google Home, you will be surprised at how cheap they are listed online.

Wiring and Installation Instructions For Ring Doorbell

The process of installing a ring video doorbell is so much simple and easier than you’d think. A ring video doorbell can either be hardwired or powered by using the rechargeable battery that is included. Here is the process …

  • Step 1: Charge and install the included battery
  • Step 2: Download the Ring app on your phone
  • Step 3: Install the battery and complete the app setup
  • Step 4: Turn off power to your current doorbell
  • Step 5: Prep the wall for installation
  • Step 6: Attach the doorbell wires
  • Step 7: Turn the power on at your circuit breaker

Step 1: Charge and Install the Included Battery

You will need to use the rechargeable battery that is provided for your backup even if you choose to hardwire your ring doorbell. Unlike the first generation ring buzzer, the ring video bell 2 has a removable and rechargeable battery. That is the feature that makes them so easy and simple to charge even after mounting them on the wall. All you have to do is to connect your battery to the power adapter that is provided, and the battery will be fully charged when the red status light disappears.

Step 2: Download the Ring App on Your Phone

You can download the ring app on your android or iPhone device. This app will give you the main point of access for your video doorbell. This is the point where you will be able to receive the alerts from the doorbell and talk to the visitors through a live video screen.

Fortunately, the process of connecting is made easy by Ring. Just open the app, create your account, and then follow the steps above.

Step 3: Install the Battery and Complete the App Setup.

When the battery is fully charged, attach it to the doorbell and then wait for it to power on. One thing you have to note it is one of the faceplates is attached already; then you have to remove it before you insert the battery.

This is done by pulling it down and away from the doorbell. Press the button that is on the right corner of the video doorbell and then select ring Wi-Fi network in the settings of your phone. Return to the Ring app and select the local W-FWi-Fi network and your password to connect. Now the ring video doorbell is online.

Step 4: Turn Off Power to Your Current Doorbell

Make sure that before you can remove the existing wired doorbell, turn it off at the circuit breaker. Then at this point, you can uninstall your old doorbell and set it aside.

Step 5: Prep the Wall for Installation

To install it on the wall, hold the video doorbell up to the wall of the doorframe and they mark the spot you need to drill it. Create holes using an electric drill. If you have problems doing this, you can get a handy friend or hire a professional.

Step 6: Attach the Doorbell Wires

Connect the doorbell wires(two) to the two screws that are on the back of the video doorbell. You can connect any wire to any screw and if you find the wires short, use the wire extenders that ring providers. Connect well and mount the ring doorbell with the included screws.

In order to complete the hardware installation, attach a faceplate. These are the satin nickel and Venetian faceplate.

Step 7: Turn the Power On At Your Circuit Breaker

Then go back to the breaker panel and switch the power back to the doorbell. That is the whole process; you have now just installed your ring video doorbell.
