Fixing Amazon Prime App Not Working On Samsung TV

Amazon has brought entertainment closer and made it easier to access. Amazon Prime is a subscription service that allows you to access movies and other programs. You can also shop online via Amazon Prime.

However, the Amazon Prime experience might be interfered with when you are using Samsung TV and the Amazon Prime app for video fails to function on your TV. There could be some

common reasons for these problems. In this article, we will enumerate some of the causes of this problem and some ways of solving/fixing the problem.

Why Is Amazon Prime Video App Not Working On My Samsung TV?

Some Samsung TV users have reported this problem. These could be some of the reasons why the Amazon Prime Video App is not working:

  1. Faulty WIFI and internet connection.
  2. Deactivated Amazon Prime account.
  3. Outdated firmware and TV software.
  4. Poor or inadequate memory in your TV.
  5. App problems.

Ways Of Fixing Amazon Prime Not Working On Samsung TV

Based on the above causes of this problem, there are ways of fixing the problem. You can follow any of the following methods to see whether the problem is resolved.

Confirm The Strength Of Your WIFI/Internet Network Connection

The Amazon Prime app uses the internet and a slow or weak WIFI network will make the app not function on your Samsung TV. Sometimes your router could be the problem. Ensure that the WIFI router is in good condition and functioning well. To check the router functionality, try connecting other devices in your room and see whether they are functioning well using your WIFI network.

If you are using a wireless connection, try moving the router closer to the TV so that the signals are stronger. If you are using a cable connection, check the cables and confirm if they are functioning well. Do not use faulty cables for your WIFI connection.

The above may still not work for you. In this case, you can try rebooting your router, switch it off and then on after minutes, and check whether the internet connection is restored.

You might be using a modem. The procedure is the same as the one mentioned above.

Your network may persist in being faulty even after trying all of the above procedures. If that is the case, contact your network provider for assistance.

Restart Your Samsung TV

Restarting or rebooting is a common method of troubleshooting many devices. You must have tried this before on your phone or any other device and it has probably worked well. Your Samsung TV is no exception to this process. You can try rebooting it to troubleshoot the problem. You can conduct a simple reboot by switching it off and disconnecting from power for 3 minutes. Connect back to power and switch on. Check whether the problem is resolved. This is called a soft reboot.

Alternatively, you can try the other method to restart (Hard reboot). Do the following to hard reboot:

Locate the power button of your remote control and thumb it continuously until the TV restarts on its own.

This simple step will restart your TV.  If you do not have your remote control with you, you can try the same procedure using the power button on your TV. The procedure may not work well and so disconnecting it from the power source may be the next valid step. Disconnect from power and then reconnect. Repeat the procedure using your remote or the TV power button.

Confirm Whether There Are Other Downloads Taking Place

We have earlier discussed internet connection. Your signal and internet speed may be interfered with when there are other heavy downloads taking place. You could be downloading some other apps on your smart TV or another device nearby. The internet speed will reduce significantly and could be the reason why your Amazon Prime is not functioning on your TV. Try doing some other activity on another device that uses heavy internet and see whether they are working. If not, stop all the ongoing downloads, live streams, and gaming that are under the same WIFI/internet connection that you are using

Check And Update The Version Of Your Samsung TV

Outdated versions may cause numerous problems when using applications on your TV. Your Samsung TV could be outdated in the software. Amazon Prime is constantly updated and your Samsung TV could be too old to support the Amazon Prime version that is currently in use. You may have downloaded the app and activated the Amazon Prime account but still experience the same problem.

However, you can update your TV software and solve this problem. Follow these steps to update the software of your Samsung TV:

  • Move to the TV Settings.
  • Go to Support.
  • Scroll to Software Update then click on it to update.
  • Leave the TV to conduct the update process.

The process may vary from one TV to the other since the models are not the same. The above procedure is general for Samsung TVs. Google comes in handy for you in this case, go to Google and search how to update (type the model of your Samsung TV) your TV.

Note that the update process will require a stable internet connection and that the process should not be interfered with in any way (do not shut the TV down).

Update The Amazon Prime Video App

Outdated software may be the reason for this problem. The Amazon Prime app could be outdated. The old version may not work. You will not need to update the app frequently so that it can work well. Follow these steps to update the app on your Samsung TV:

  • Move to the Settings.
  • Got to the extreme left of the setting screen and choose Support.
  • Choose Software Update.
  • Set click on Update Automatically to enable automatic app updating.

Once the above procedure is complete, all the other apps in the TV will automatically update without you prompting it.

Activate Your Amazon Prime Account

A deactivated Amazon Prime account will result in the app not functioning. You may have deactivated your account or maybe not yet signed to the Amazon Prime account. Most amazon apps will not function if you are not logged in to the Amazon account.  Click on this link to find more about the Amazon Prime Account: https://www.amazon.in/gp/help/cutomer

Uninstall Then Install The Amazon Prime Video App

Uninstalling the app and then installing it again is similar to rebooting/restarting. Once the app is uninstalled, installing it back will require you to go through all the initial steps before it starts working as it should. You

may need to use this method first before trying any other software-related method. Follow this procedure to uninstall and install back the app:

  • Move to the setting.
  • Scroll move to Application Manager.
  • Select the app (Prime Video).
  • Click on it then Uninstall.

The process will require you to restart the TV before you install the app again.

Clean The Memory Of Your TV

You might have filled the TV with so many unnecessary apps that are you are not using. Clearing these apps will free the memory of your TV and will allow the Amazon Prime app to function well since there is enough storage and capacity.

Clean The Cache Memory

There is a lot of cache information since you watch different movies and sometimes you play games and do not complete therefore more cache information is stored. Clearing cache may help you solve this problem. Follow these steps to solve the problem:

  • Switch on the TV.
  • Thumb the Home button on the Samsung TV remote.
  • Move to Settings.
  • Scroll down to Apps.
  • Choose System Apps.
  • Choose all the apps whose cache you want to clear.
  • Click on Clear Cache.
  • Press Ok.

Conduct A Factory Reset On Your Samsung TV

This should be the last option. Factory reset will erase all the data. You must ensure that all the other options have failed before you try the factory reset option. Settle for it as the last option.

To factory reset:

  • Move to Settings.
  • Select General.
  • Choose Reset.
  • Insert the PIN that you set, you can alternatively use the default PIN 0000.
  • Toggle on the Ok option to confirm the process.
