Ways To Fix Oculus Quest 2 Link Disconnecting From PC

There must be a solution to every problem. In this case, we have some ways to fix this problem. Most of these ways will serve to solve the above given problems. Here are some solutions:

1. Check WIFI Strength (Change Router)

If you are using Oculus Air Link, you need a very strong WIFI connection. A strong WIFI connection will require you to have a powerful router. Less powerful routers could be the reason why your WIFI connection is not strong and Oculus Air Link will disconnect from your PC. You can purchase a good WIFI router (WIFI 6). Here are some of our suggestions: MAX-STREAM, Asus RT-AX82U and TP-Link Archer GX90.

2. Try Another USB Port

Normally, PCs have more than 1 USB ports. Some have up to 4 ports. The port you that you frequently use might develop some weaknesses hence faulty. Try the other USB ports that are not used frequently. In some PCs, the other ports other than USB A might not work efficiently and therefore a requirement to use USB A for vital heavy connection such as Oculus Link connection.

3. Try Another USB Cable

Random USB cables that are USB Type C can be compatible with Quest and used for the Oculus Link. However, they might be faulty, slow and low-quality hence constant disconnections. Oculus has an official Oculus Link Cable that is more reliable with little or no problems attached. It is not preferred by most people because it is expensive yet the USB Type is only Type – C unlike the others that come with different USB Types. Most people would prefer a cable that can be connected to other devices.

However, for the purposes of reliability, official Oculus Link Cable is the best. There are other cables that we would recommend you to use if you don’t prefer the official Oculus Link Cable such as: Amavision 16ft USB 3.2 A to C, VOKOO 16-foot Oculus Link cable and Amazon Basics USB Type-C. You can use other USB cables if they are compatible with Quest 2.

4. Deny Storage Permission

When establishing Oculus Link connection between Quest 2 and your PC, there will be a dialog on your Quest VR display. There will be multiple permissions that you will need to give/accept; but when permission is for storage, click on Deny Storage Permission. This will help you fix the disconnection problem and prevent Oculus Quest 2 from reverting to Quest 2 Home screen. This action will deny the headset from disconnecting VR interface when Windows check for new files on it.

5. Soft Reset The PC & The Quest 2

This is a common procedure whenever you experience connection problems with your devices. Powering the Quest 2 and the PC could help solve the problem. Power both of them following the right procedure (for PC). Leave them off for 1 minute then power on and check the Oculus Link connection again.

6. Check The Oculus Quest Settings

Your settings might support Oculus Link without your knowledge. Sometimes you have hard times looking for the causative agent of the disconnection but the problem is simpler than you can imagine. Navigate to settings and check whether Link is enabled. Go to Enable Link and enable. If it is already enabled, try disabling then enabling again.

7. Unplug The USB Link Cable On Both Ends

You might try this easy step to see whether the connection will be restored. Unplug from both ends simultaneously or one at a time. Plug then back again using different port on the PC end. This is not a must work procedure but it may work for you.

8. Restart Your PC

Your PC could be the problem. Restarting it would help solve the problem. Switch your Quest 2 off before restarting your PC. You may as well unplug the Oculus Quest 2 Link cable from your PC before restarting it.

If all of the above procedures do not work, you will need to create a ticket for Oculus Support and describe the problem. You may also contact your technician.
